Snapshots: Ignite Creativity Summit

Moments during the Ignite Creativity Summit keynote address at VAE Raleigh by Imani Jacqueline Brown, one of the founders of Blights Out, a New Orleans collective of artists, activists and architects.

“Why not work collaboratively intentionally?”

That was the message from Ignite Creativity Summit keynote speaker Imani Jacqueline Brown Friday night. Brown spoke to a crowd of roughly 150 people inside VAE Raleigh, to kick off the two-day summit with the theme of creating allies in the community.

She was introduced to the stage by Raleigh Councilwoman Mary-Ann Baldwin, who talked about the need for new types of community engagement that would aid in creating allies.

The Saturday portion of the summit, taking momentum from Friday night’s keynote address, included a panel discussion on the local context of what a creative ally is, followed by a creative problem solving session, or “charrette.”
