A Place at the Table offers love, community and delicious local flare

Downtown Raleigh is the home of A Place at the Table, a pay-what-you-can, nonprofit cafe that is a first for the area. If you need a hot meal, you only pay as much as you are able and you’re welcome to pay by volunteering your time at the restaurant.

As Executive Director Maggie Kane explains, everything on the menu is a suggested price and no one is ever turned away for not being able to pay. There is even an innovative “token” system that allows patrons to purchase meals for others in the community. With delicious and healthy breakfast, lunch, vegan and gluten free options, there’s something for everyone at A Place at the Table.
