Preview: Black Irish presents 'ORGAN'

This weekend at Motorco in Durham, BLACK IRISH will perform “ORGAN,” an hour-long contemporary hip hop dance work.

Why you should go see it: “ORGAN” is BLACK IRISH’s premiere show of 2015. Inspired by 20 organs of the human body, it will be a playful start to a season packed full of exciting Triangle dance performances. According to BLACK IRISH Creative Director Ronald West, in this show “we have examined the function, underlying definitions and colloquial meanings of each organ and will showcase our initial impressions and deep understanding of each, with the intention to unite all humans in our likeness. Because of the concept, community inclusiveness is very important. Without community involvement in the body, the body ultimately dies of organ failure.”

What to expect: Expect to laugh! Also expect high-energy dance and incredible athleticism from the dancers of BLACK IRISH, as well as dance students of all ages and community members. You can also expect live singing. And it doesn’t hurt that you can enjoy the whole thing while sipping on a beverage (adult or otherwise) from Motorco’s bar.
