4 events you can go to with your family this weekend

There are family-friendly Martin Luther King, Jr. events this weekend.File

Martin Luther King Jr. commemorations and a kid-friendly comedy show highlight the weekend.

Here is a sampling of the family-friendly events happening in the Triangle this weekend.

Transactors Improv for Families

Transactors Improv for Families’ Saturday show is snow-themed, which is appropriate considering the cold snap and snowfall we just experienced. This appropriate-for-children comedy show starts at 6 p.m. at the Carrboro Arts Center, and general admission tickets cost $10, though seniors pay $8 and children pay $6. 300-G E. Main St., Carrboro. Visit artscenterlive.org.

MLK Jr. Dreamfest 2018

The Town of Cary’s MLK Jr. Dreamfest 2018 runs Saturday to Monday, with free events for children and adults alike. For the young, there’s “Songs of the Dream: Kids Sing and Learn,” which is at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave. Then on Monday, roll up your sleeves and volunteer at Good Hope Farm, 1580 Morrisville Carpenter Road, for the annual MLK Day of Service (registration is required for one of two shifts). For full schedule and registration or ticket info (some of the free events are ticketed), visit townofcary.org.
