Wide Open Bluegrass

NC Pride at Night Festival

Honor the past and celebrate the future at NC Pride @ Night 2018. First held 30 years ago on June 25, 1988, Raleigh’s inaugural Gay Pride celebration saw over 2,000 participants gather at NC State’s Bell Tower and march to Capitol Square. This year’s event (Sat., 4 p.m.) takes place at the intersection of Hargett and Harrington streets, with proceeds to benefit the Crape Myrtle Festival organization. Friday Night Tribute Series

We may have said so-long to summer, but block-party outdoor-music season doesn’t have to end. Stretch the Coastal Credit Union Midtown Park fun through Oct. 12 with the Friday Night Tribute Series (7 to 9 p.m.), featuring food trucks, specialty cocktails, kid-friendly fun and, of course, tunes. Storytelling Festival

Storytime is not just for school rooms and libraries or bedtime tales. Take storytime to the park with Storytelling Festival and post up for professional storytellers, plus live music, wagon shuttle, activity tents, food vendors and more. Presented in partnership with Wake County Public Libraries and Wake Co. Parks, Recreation and Open Space at Historic Oak View County Park (Sat., 11 a.m.), free to all ages. Belgian Beer Fest

Feel like livin’ on the edge? How about over it? Welp, now’s your chance with Over the Edge (Sat., 9 a.m. t0 5 p.m.), where you literally step over the edge of a skyscraper to amazing views of DTR as you rappel 30 stories down — all for bravery bragging rights and, more importantly, to raise awareness (think: adversity) for athletes across the state and funds for Special Olympics North Carolina 2018. | More info

Color Run 5K

Caniac Carnival

Caniacs, it’s almost time. Channel your excitement for another season on the ice at this weekend’s preseason showdown @ Caniac Carnival, hosted by Carolina Hurricanes (Sun., 10 a.m.) at PNC Arena. The 19th annual event features plenty of fandom, inflatable rides, games, music and more — plus the main event, admission to an NHL preseason game against the Nashville Predators (1:30 p.m.).
